The Eternal Optimist- Patience, Hope, and Perserverance
Anybody can grow decent grapes in a dry climate like California or the Mediterranean. Here in Oklahoma, we easily have ten times more agricultural challenges for grape-growing than the west coast. So, why do we persist?
Because we are here, in Oklahoma, not Arizona, not California, but right here. We pride ourselves on locally grown produce, beef, poultry and other agricultural items. We should take pride in the wine we make from grapes we grow. Most of you who receive this newsletter have tried our wines, and you do take pride. But please invite your friends.
I grow European grapes in Oklahoma because I love challenges. I like to prove the naysayers wrong. I like to do things that have never been done before. So, here I am, and here we are together. I watch our vines entering the phase of senescence just before they go into full winter dormancy. I hope and pray for favorable conditions this winter, so we will see tender shoots emerging in April. Meanwhile, don’t wait for spring. Come out and see what’s new.

Fall is Firepit Weather
Weather permitting, we will have our popular firepit going at the winery on weekend nights. This is the weather we all suffer through the rest of the year to enjoy. Come out and raise a glass with friends new and old!
Epiphany Nights
Why should New Orleans have all the fun? Let’s get together to dispel winter’s darkness out in the boondocks of Muskogee. Every Saturday night from January 11 – March 1, we will have a different “King’s Cake” paired with one of our wines. We will have a free charcuterie board. The whole season culminates on Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) March 4 when we will launch our first Mardi Gras party with wine, beer, music and revelry. Costumes are encouraged.
Bottling Plans
Apple Cider is here! A delicious cider made from Michigan Apples. About 10% ABV with 2% Residual Sugar. You MUST try this.
Our Estate Rosé from Chambourcin and the other Rosé from Tempranillo are both outstanding this year. We should have them bottled by mid-November. Supplies will be limited:
- Estate Rosé from Chambourcin- 11 cases
- Estate Rosé from Tempranillo- 6 cases
We will also have some interesting small batch wines available for wine club members:
- Native ferment Vignoles 2023
- Whiskey barrel-aged rosé from Chambourcin 2021
NEW PRODUCT THIS FALL- White Vinegar
Every now and then a wine that has not been bulked out with sulfites will turn to vinegar. This year we are putting it in decorative bottles and selling it. It makes a great gift, and you can use it for cooking to make salad dressing, sauces, and to acidify any meat dish. Some folks use it to marinade food prior to barbecue. Come to the winery and try some.

- Murder Mystery Dinner – Friday, December 6th from 6-9pm. $85 p/p. Our dinner on June 22 was sold out and a huge success. Everyone had a great time including the winery staff who are all natural hams. These fun events sell out quickly, so don’t wait. Register HERE
Staying at the Winery
Our four-bedroom Air BnB house next door is now open and available for overnight guests. The house is completely furnished and accommodates up to 8 people in four bedrooms. We have already had several groups stay with us, and they all gave very positive reviews.
We also have eight 50-amp electrical hookups for RVs. Four of them have water available as well. We love our guests and visitors from all over the world stopping for a great winey experience right here in Oklahoma.
